Veteran tax preparer Steve Sargent is almost obsessive about his work habits and his love of numbers. That’s why it’s not surprising that he finally needed an outlet to get his mind off work. Enter the sport of bowling, which he picked up much later than most enthusiasts and has continued an almost 40-year love affair with the game.

“What I do for a business, doing taxes, I needed an escape. That’s why I started to bowl when I was 32 years old,” said the Burnt Hills native. “I started doing taxes in 1986, and I do taxes for people all year. We also do payrolls and accounting work along with my daughter. I’d say we have 40 payrolls to take care of along with all of our tax work, so we keep busy the entire year. That’s all I do.
