LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) - What can someone do if they know someone who shouldn’t be behind the wheel?
Earlier this year, a truck crashed into a home , killing a person inside. Police say the driver had also been in a minor crash the day before, possibly caused by a medical condition.
The Louisiana Office of Motor Vehicles is reminding residents that there’s a way to report drivers who may no longer be medically fit to be on the road.
On the OMV website, you’ll find a form called the Medical/Behavior Report. Anyone can fill it out, law enforcement, family members, or even doctors.
Once submitted, OMV staff review it and then contact the driver by mail. That driver then has 30 days to be evaluated by a doctor, who decides whether they are safe to continue driving.
