Police have cordoned off a Greater Manchester road following an incident tonight (Friday, September 19).

A section of Wigan Road, Leigh, is closed, with police and paramedics remaining at the scene.

Around six police cars, and two vehicles from the North West Ambulance Service are in attendance with the road shut to pedestrians, public transport and motorists.

One of the vehicles on the scene is an ambulance critical care car.

The nature of the incident is not yet known.

Greater Manchester Police and North West Ambulance Service have been approached for information.
