PHOENIX (AZFamily) —It’s been six months exactly since Arizona executed convicted killer Aaron Gunches . Next month, another violent criminal, Richard Djerf , is set to be put to death.

For the first time in 30 years, Arizona’s Family is hearing the convicted mass murderer’s own words. Djerf is expressing remorse and accepting his fate by not asking for clemency in a handwritten letter from death row.

The letter also gives new insight into why he brutally killed four people, including children, 32 years ago.

Djerf wrote that some brain dysfunction likely contributed to his horrible crimes, but it can never excuse the harm he caused.
