NEW SHOREHAM, R.I. (WLNE) — The National Transportation Safety Board released a preliminary report on the plane crash that occurred on Block Island on July 30 that killed one person.
The report said that the plane departed from Albany with “full flaps,” but when the pilot attempted to land, the plane’s right wing lifted due to a “gust of wind.”
There also was not enough runway to attempt a go-around and the plane hit trees.
Dan Wilson, a legislator in Montgomery County, died from injuries sustained in the crash of the small plane at approximately 12:30 p.m. on the runway at Block Island State Airport.
The full report may take up to two years to be released.
