BALTIMORE -- The Yankees have featured many players over the years with unique blends of power and speed . But somewhat improbably, only two had registered seasons of at least 30 home runs and 30 stolen bases entering this season: Bobby Bonds (1975) and Alfonso Soriano (2002-03).
Jazz Chisholm Jr. grabbed a place in the franchise record book in the seventh inning on Friday evening at Camden Yards, clearing the right-field fence for a two-run homer off the Orioles’ Dietrich Enns that marked his 30th blast of the season. The drive cut the Yankees’ deficit to 3-2 at the time.
Asked recently what it would mean to notch a 30-30 season, Chisholm replied: “It would mean a lot if we win the division with it.”
Named to his second All-Star team this season (and first since joining the American
