COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) -- An officer shot a man who was allegedly fleeing from a traffic stop on Friday in southeast Columbus.
The shooting happened in the 1400 block of Burstock Road in southeast Columbus.
Sgt. James Fuqua said officers tried to pull the man over nearby when he refused to stop. The suspect allegedly pointed a gun at the officers after getting out of the vehicle.
One officer fired his weapon. The suspect is expected to survive, and no officers were injured, Fuqua said, adding that there was no indication the suspect fired at the officers.
"When you are in a traffic stop and an officer pulls you over, to stay in that vehicle and listen to commands," Fuqua said. "This situation could have easily been avoided."
