LANCASTER, N.Y. (WIVB) -- The Boys & Girls Club of Lancaster held a ceremony Friday to kick off what they call a "much-needed renovation."

The club saw funding cuts from the town back in February and was faced with an uncertain future.

Now, they are seeing over $1.25 million dollars in funding, thanks to the NY Forward Grant spearheaded by Governor Kathy Hochul, along with funding from Erie County Legislator Frank Todaro and donor, Dan Thill.

The Boys and Girls Club of Lancaster has been a community staple for nearly 90 years.

“I've been coming here since I was a kid, I went to the other building, the Depew club, I walked there everyday,” said Executive Director Jeff Krupka. “There's seven thousand kids in Lancaster and we take care of 400 a year, maybe 500.”
