Wynyard always "knew internally what [they] could do" and that belief was in full force as it turned the tables on reigning premier Penguin in the NWFL Women's grand final.

The Cats took control in the peultimate quarter of Saturday, September 20's contest, and despite the Two Blues' late surge, held on to claim a 6.6 (42) to 5.2 (32) victory.

After making up for last year's lost grand final to claim the club's second flag in three years, Wynyard coach Keegan Weller described it as "unbelievable".

"The emotion of last year probably got to us a little bit. We've been on a journey over the last two seasons," Weller said

"We've proved so many people wrong. We knew internally what we could do but to top it off with this is just excellent."
