JACKSONVILLE, N.C. (WITN) - On Friday, veterans and families gathered at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Jacksonville to honor prisoners of war and servicemembers who went missing in action.
The event was hosted by the Rolling Thunder NC-5 chapter.
Cynthia Baucom is a golden star daughter, who thinks of her father everyday since he was declared missing in action on Sept 11. 1967.
“I was eight years old when dad went to Vietnam, he left behind four kids, I was the third, and then I had a younger brother, and then we also lost our younger brother in the water, my dad was also on an air boat and still missing,” she said.
