Gunfire outside Bulldog Stadium in LaFayette at a nearby home caused confusion and ultimately led officials to cancel the second half of Friday’s high school football game.

Lanett coach R.J. McDonald said the gunfire could be heard in the stadium and inside the locker room, where he was meeting with his team during halftime.

“It happened at halftime,” McDonald said. “All of our boys were in the locker room, and all of their boys were in their locker room. It was a scary deal.”

McDonald said he had no details regarding the shooting, because it happened outside the stadium.
