Josh Stein was serving as the state’s attorney general and running for governor against Republican Mark Robinson, North Carolina’s then-lieutenant governor, when Tropical Storm Helene hit Western North Carolina last September. Stein, a Democrat now in his first term as governor, spoke to the Citizen Times on Sept. 12.
