COVINA — Northview came up big on defense to win its fourth consecutive “Cross Town Crown” rivalry game against Covina, 56-21 in front of 2,000-plus fans at Covina District Field Friday night.

The Vikings (4-1) defense had three interceptions, two for touchdowns, and held the high-powered Colts (2-2) offense to half their season average for points scored.

“They had us working,” Vikings coach Marcel Perez said. “They score a lot of points, but our defense stepped up and got a couple of pick-6s. It was exciting.”

Senior Miguel Guillan had two interceptions, one for a touchdown, and a sack to lead the Vikings defense.
