YAKIMA, Wash. – The Yakima Health District (YHD) is investigating three cases of Shiga toxin-producing E. coli (STEC) linked to Mercado Los Amigos. The individuals affected reported consuming meat, produce or prepared foods from the store.
Mercado Los Amigos, located at 1409 Fruitvale Boulevard, voluntarily closed on September 18. The store is cooperating with YHD to assess risks and ensure future food safety.
Health officials advised anyone who purchased or ate items from Mercado Los Amigos between September 10 and September 18 to watch for symptoms such as abdominal cramping, severe or bloody diarrhea or vomiting. People experiencing these symptoms should contact their healthcare providers.
