Beleaguered Optus CEO Stephen Rue has said the nation’s second largest telecommunications company received “no alarms” the triple zero network was downed for 13 hours on Thursday, and admitted the issue was only detected after two customers raised the alarm.

Optus CEO Stephen Rue announced on Friday that the nation’s second largest telecommunications company had experienced a major 13-hour outage on Thursday which impacted hundreds of triple zero calls in South Australia, Western Australia and the Northern Territory.
