OLIN—North Iredell dominated from start to finish Friday night to beat Pine Lake Prep 49-7 in its final nonconference game.

Dayveon Thompson returned an interception 75 yards for a touchdown with 1.7 seconds remaining in the first half, and running back Pete Jackson busted free for a 63-yard touchdown run on the first play from scrimmage in the third quarter.

That two-score knockout punch turned a 14-point lead into a 28-point stranglehold. Leading 35-7, North Iredell (1-4) had no trouble closing things out to secure a much-needed first victory in a bumpy season that included its head coach resigning after the Aug. 22 opener.
