There are big games in the Premier League this weekend, but few will capture more attention than Saturday's battle between Manchester United and Chelsea at Old Trafford.
As is seemingly the case every week for the past few years, Man United has a coach whose seat appears to be heating up. Manchester City brushed the Red Devils aside last weekend, winning the Manchester derby 3-0 and piling pressure on Ruben Amorim (whose only win in all competitions this season came over promoted Burnley).
Man United has lost to Arsenal as well, and most notoriously was knocked out of the Carabao Cup by fourth-tier Grimsby Town. As such, Amorim had to address what is already threatening to be another doomed season for one of England's proudest teams.
"This is football at the club with maybe more pressure in the world, but we want to win," Amorim said Friday in a pre-match news conference. "We lost against Arsenal and City, and here losing – especially in the beginning, after last season – is a problem."
For Chelsea, things are going well enough, at least in domestic play. Confident wins over West Ham and Fulham, paired with draws against Brentford and Crystal Palace, have the Blues in the top five, and Enzo Maresca's side has scored nine times (the joint-best mark in the Premier League at this early stage).
That said, Wednesday's 3-1 Champions League loss at Bayern Munich ended an unbeaten start to the season. Though that game was fairly even, Chelsea will need to show it can shake off a defeat to increase the tension in the red half of Manchester.
