A Morganton man was arrested Wednesday and charged with breaking and entering. Police say he broke down the door of a building at the city’s soccer complex.
James Henry, 45, of Morganton, was charged with felony injury to real property (damage exceeding $1,000), misdemeanor breaking and entering and resisting a public officer.
The Morganton Department of Public Safety said the arrest came after it received a report of a suspicious person at the Catawba River Soccer Complex on Wednesday afternoon, according to a news release from the department. The soccer complex has been closed to the public since Hurricane Helene hit on year ago.
When officers responded to the park, Henry ran toward an empty building the city owns, the release said.
Henry picked up a large boulder and used it to hit
