Alberta anti-hate organization StopHateAB has received a grant from the Department of Canadian Heritage to introduce an Anti-Hate Outreach Project to multiple regions across the province, including southern Alberta.

StopHateAB aims to combat hate through education, awareness, research and advocacy. Their work aims to support victims of hate on the basis of race, faith, disability, and sexual orientation.

The new funding will be directed to the establishment of several anti-hate coalitions, including one in Medicine Hat.

“The concept is, we’re doing some background work on understanding what type of hate is prevalent within the community, where there’s barriers, where there are existing anti-hate initiatives or supports,”
