COLUMBUS, Ohio — A motorcyclist was seriously injured in a crash in northwest Columbus early Saturday morning.

Officers with the Columbus Division of Police were called around 12:45 a.m. to Sawmill Road and Federated Boulevard, near state Route 161, on a report of a crash.

Police said the motorcyclist was traveling southbound on Sawmill Road near Federated Boulevard, when a Honda Civic was traveling northbound on Sawmill Road in the southbound lanes.

The driver of the Honda Civic hit the motorcyclist, which caused them to be ejected. They were taken to a nearby hospital with serious injuries. Police said they are expected to survive their injuries.

The driver of the Honda Civic was arrested for OVI.

The crash remains under investigation.
