CHICAGO — A man is dead and another is in custody following an early-morning crash on the city's Near West Side on Saturday.
According to police, the crash unfolded just before 2 a.m. in the 2600 block of West Warren Boulevard.
Officers said the victim, a 30-year-old man who was driving a gray Hyundai sedan, was stopped at a traffic light in the area when he was allegedly rear-ended by a black Dodge SUV being driven by a 42-year-old man.
The victim sustained significant injuries in the crash and was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
Officers said the driver of the Dodge was taken into custody following the incident and charges against him are pending.
Currently, it is unclear what led to the crash and an investigation is underway by CPD's Major Accident Investigations Unit (MAIU)
