LOS ANGELES – A 28-year-old man was wounded when he was fired upon by two suspects in the Westlake area of Los Angeles, authorities said Saturday.

The shooting was reported at 11:01 p.m. Friday at Wilshire and Rampart boulevards, according to a desk officer at the Los Angeles Police Department’s Operations Center.

The victim was walking in the area when he was approached by a vehicle with a male and female inside, the officer said. They both got out with guns and fired at the victim before fleeing.

The man was taken to a hospital by ambulance and had stable vital signs the officer said.

The shooting was believed to be gang-related, he said.
