SUNNYVALE, Texas — Police shot a suspect accused of pointing a gun at an officer in Sunnyvale early Saturday, officials said.
The incident happened around 3:30 a.m. in the 200 block of East Fork Road, where officers responded to a report of a domestic disturbance, according to a police news release.
When officers arrived, the suspect pointed a gun at one of the officers, police said. The officer shot the suspect two times, according to the release. The suspect was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
The officer was not injured during the incident.
The officer has been placed on leave while officials investigate the shooting, police said. The Texas Rangers are helping in the investigation. More information was not yet available Saturday.
