Waiver wire pickups can make or break a fantasy football season, and for Week 3, three under-the-radar options could deliver immediate value.
Troy Franklin, currently rostered in around 35% of fantasy leagues, is a big-bodied 2nd-year wide receiver for the Denver Broncos, standing 6-foot-2 and weighing 187 pounds. Franklin, out of Oregon, has shown flashes during his first two games in the NFL, catching 12 passes for 133 yards and a touchdown.
Last week, Franklin had 8 catches for 89 yards and a TD in a loss against the Colts. In Denver’s system, he’s become a consistent target downfield, and there’s a real chance his volume increases as the Broncos continue to figure out their receiving rotation. Franklin has the size and college pedigree to develop into a reliable WR3 or FLEX option.
Wan’Dale Robinson is rostered on just 25% of fantasy squads, but that number should climb after last week’s performance against the Cowboys. Robinson grabbed 8 catches for 142 yards and a touchdown in what was easily the best game of his career. He’s up to 14 catches for 197 yards and 1 TD through two weeks.
What’s most exciting is how Robinson complements Malik Nabers. Nabers leads the league in total receiving yards, and the duo gives the Giants a dynamic one-two punch, with Robinson playing more out of the slot and getting deep routes that open up the field. Against Dallas, Robinson showed tremendous chemistry with Russell Wilson, and his role in the passing attack looks secure going forward, especially in PPR formats, given his high target share.
Kyle Monangai is a true deep league flyer, rostered in less than 1% of fantasy leagues. The Chicago Bears’ rookie running back, out of Rutgers, stands 5-9 and weighs 210 pounds. Monangai saw zero snaps in Week 1 and limited carries in Week 2, but managed 28 yards on 7 carries and 2 catches for 19 yards, showing burst and vision behind a struggling offensive line.
The Bears offensive coordinator Ben Johnson loves running two backs and is quickly integrating Monangai into the offense, getting him more reps as they look for a spark in the run game. With a favorable matchup and an increasing workload, Monangai could be a sneaky start in deeper formats or a priority stash for owners banking on a breakout during the season’s early weeks.
These three players are positioned for increased roles and could easily become difference-makers in fantasy lineups for Sunday’s slate of games.
