WEST SACRAMENTO, Calif. —
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) discovered an issue involving the nearly $173 million Sacramento Weir expansion project back in March. The public did not find out until September.
KCRA 3 Investigates looked into what took so long and why USACE told KCRA just last month, “We’re on track. We’re on schedule.”
USACE now says the completion of the project to expand the Sacramento Weir will be delayed by one year.
The project is underway on the west side of the Sacramento River near the Sacramento Bypass Wildlife Area. It is a major upgrade to protect against potential catastrophic flooding.
