At the end of a recent appearance on TODAY, “The Paper” stars Oscar Nuñez, Gbemisola Ikumelo and Alex Edelman were asked to offer their best deadpan expression to the camera. Each actor stared into the camera , as if a mockumentary was being filmed right there in Studio 1A, pretending to show signs of sarcasm and disgust.
That sense of humor that has served the trio so well in their new Peacock series, a successor of sorts to “The Office,” carried over just minutes later when they settled into a dressing room at 30 Rock to chat with TODAY.com. When it’s mentioned that “The Office” is one of the most beloved comedies of all time, Edelman, with a straight face, replies, “Never seen it.
