Grand Designs presenter Kevin McCloud has delivered a bleak assessment for anyone hoping to get onto the property ladder, saying he feels "sorry" for them.
The 66 year old, who is among Britain's leading property experts and has fronted Grand Designs since its Channel 4 debut in 1999, has criticised the current state of the housing market.
McCloud contrasted today's prices with when he purchased his own home in London back in 1996.
The television host revealed he snapped up a two-bedroom property in Dulwich, south-east London, for £60,000 - but estimates it would now set him back a staggering £1.2 million.
