LANSING, Mich. (WILX) - A group of Michigan State University students is learning the Ukrainian language in a class taught by someone native to the country.
The class isn’t just about learning simple phrases and words, it carries a deeper message.
“I think that nowadays you can read a lot about Ukraine in newspapers, but news gives us only numbers and headlines. I’m here to show the human side of the story,” said Kseniia Borodin.
Through the Fullbright Scholarship, Kseniia Borodin was able to travel to East Lansing to teach at Michigan State University.
Although her class is small, it’s everything she could ask for. She’s teaching them the language she grew up speaking.
“I’m trying to make our classes very informal,” said Borodin.
