Captain George Turley of the Chattanooga Fire Department is now forever a part of the International Fallen Fire Fighter Memorial after a ceremony held in Colorado Springs on Saturday.
This year, the service memorialized 311 IAFF members who made "the ultimate sacrifice" serving their communities, the organization said on Facebook.
Captain Turley died on duty last December while doing his daily workout in the fire station's gym.
The Chattanooga Fire Department said his life and legacy will never be forgotten:
