ATHENS, Tenn. (WVLT) - The McMinn County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after a shooting at a bar in Athens early Saturday morning.
According to Sheriff Joe Guy, authorities responded to the Double C Bar off of Highway 30 in Athens just after midnight after receiving a report of a shooting.
There, Guy said investigators determined William Sullivan, 24, had been asked to leave the bar by staff after making threats with a knife, although those hadn’t been reported to 911 at the time.
“Sometime later, the suspect fired shots at other bar patrons in the parking lot. When he was confronted by the bar owner, Randy Croft, the suspect appears to have fatally shot Mr. Croft before taking Mr. Croft’s truck and fleeing the scene,” Guy said.
