Rutgers suffered its first setback of the 2025 season on Friday.
The Scarlet Knights (3-1, 0-1) suffered a 38-28 loss to Iowa (3-1, 0-1) in their Big Ten opener in front of a record crowd at SHI Stadium.
Head coach Greg Schiano’s team moved the ball against the Hawkeyes defense for stretches thanks to another strong performance from quarterback Athan Kaliakmanis and star receiver Ian Strong, but it was not enough to overcome another disappointing defensive performance with a litany of ill-timed penalties and a head-scratching special teams performance.
