When Karenne Mosley received the devastating diagnosis of an aggressive uterine cancer in March, she was assured it had not spread.
She was referred for category one surgery, which has the highest clinical urgency under the National Elective Surgery Categorisation guideline, and should be done within 30 days.
The 70-year old former registered nurse from Queensland's Sunshine Coast waited more than three months but the operation was never performed.
"I'm going to die, and probably within 12 months,"
Ms Mosley said.
Cancer becomes inoperable
Ms Mosley was booked in for surgery on April 23 at Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital, but it was cancelled the day before so she could undergo an urgent colonoscopy on May 19.
