ROCK PORT, Mo. (KCTV) - The Atchison County Sheriff’s Office says two missing girls have been found safe and a suspect has been arrested. The Missouri State Highway Patrol has canceled its Amber Alert.

According to a release, Emma Sue Hale, 12, and Emily Harrington, 12, were reported as last seen around 8:40 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 19, at a Rock Port High School football game.

They were believed to be with a white male named Alec or Alex, but no further details were provided.

Late Saturday morning, the Atchison County Sheriff’s Office issued a notice that Hale and Harrington were found safe in Evansville, Indiana, more than 500 miles away.

The sheriff’s department said one person was arrested, and that this is “very much an ongoing investigation.” No further details were released.
