A 17-year-old boy was seriously injured in a targeted shooting in Delta on Friday night. The incident occurred shortly before 8:30 p.m. near Fred Gingell Park, located in the 900-block of English Bluff Road. Delta police reported that the teenager was part of a group of high school students from another community in the Lower Mainland who were celebrating on a party bus.
Upon arrival at the scene, officers found the youth with significant gunshot wounds. He was transported to a local hospital, where he is currently in stable condition. Investigators believe the shooting was not random and are treating it as a targeted attack.
Witnesses reported seeing a newer model silver or grey Toyota Camry leaving the area shortly after the shooting took place. Police are actively seeking information regarding this vehicle and are asking anyone who may have seen it or has video footage from the time of the incident to come forward.
In addition to gathering evidence, officers will conduct door-to-door canvassing in the neighborhood to gather more information. The Delta Police Department encourages anyone with relevant information, including CCTV or dash camera footage, to contact them at 604-946-4444.
