Ferrari driver Lewis Hamilton missed out on Q3 and will start in 12th at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix.

Hamilton topped the timesheets during Free Practice 2, and he looked poised for a promising result.

Qualifying has been an area of weakness for Hamilton over the past couple of years, failing to match the speed of his younger contemporaries.

While at Mercedes, George Russell handily beat Hamilton over one lap, with the same being true in his short time with Ferrari.

After a slow start to the season, Hamilton looked to get his season going in Baku, aiming for his first potential podium finish with the Scuderia.

Instead, he is once again on the back foot for the start of the race, though this time it was the tire choice that cost him.
