SALT LAKE CITY – The setting was perfect. Rice-Eccles Stadium was packed to the brim, every seat filled, the north end zone shaking before kickoff. Utah fans answered the call for a top-20 showdown, creating the kind of intimidating, electric atmosphere that was supposed to tilt this Big 12 clash in their favor.
Instead, they spent most of the afternoon watching their offense sputter and their defense bend under the weight of repeated missed chances. By the time the final whistle sounded, No. 17 Texas Tech had silenced the noise and handed No. 16 Utah a sobering 34–10 defeat.
