PRINCE GEORGE, Va. (WWBT) - A little league soccer team in Prince George County played in it’s first soccer game of the season Saturday, despite controversy over a bible verse on its jerseys.

The team’s coach, Andrew Collins, said officials are letting his team play with the bible verse for now, while the county reviews the situation.

According to Collins, the county told him his players could not play with the bible verse, John 14:6, on their backs.

“Once I told the county ‘hey this is a violation of the constitution,’ the public just poured all kinds of resources into us, we had attorneys fall into our lap,” Collins said.

Collins enlisted the help of an attorney, former Delegate Tim Anderson, who calls it “illegal viewpoint discrimination.”
