SAN CARLOS, Ariz. — Five kids and their dog were saved from a flash flood by the San Carlos Apache Police Department and fire crews.
Police said the flash food happened on Thursday at around 8:40 p.m. near Waco Road in the Gilson Wash District.
The children, aged 7 to 13, were located by Officer Dorian Ganilla after they became stranded on a small island, surrounded by rushing water.
Ganilla heard the kids screaming for help.
Sgt. Christopher Titla and Officer Jordan Kitcheyan, along with the San Carlos Apache EMS/FIRE, arrived to help Ganilla save the family.
"Working together, rescue crews safely guided the children out of the floodwaters while additional personnel stood downstream as backup," police said. "The dog was also rescued."
