The Tulane football team suffered its first loss of the season as Ole Miss rolled to a 45-10 victory over the Green Wave in Oxford, Mississippi.

Here are my main takeaways from Tulane's defeat:

What We Learned

Tulane cannot compete with the true big boys. Operating with a much smaller NIL budget (but very competitive among Group of Five schools) than Ole Miss, the Green Wave could not match up on either side of the ball. Maybe most telling was the way the receivers had an incredibly hard time getting any separation, while Rebels receivers were open play after play. Coach Jon Sumrall said Tuesday his team had received too much praise after winning by two and seven points the previous two weeks. This performance proved his point. Tulane was humbled by a much better team.
