Julie Anne Hoff, PhD, RN, FNAP, FAAN, has taken on the role of provost at Rush University. She also serves as senior vice president and the Robert C. and Naomi T. Borwell Presidential Professor. Dr. Hoff recently spoke with Robert S.D. Higgins, MD, MSHA, president and chief academic officer of Rush University, about her new responsibilities and vision for the institution.

When asked to describe her position as provost, Dr. Hoff explained it in terms familiar to her family: “I have a son who’s a chef, so I say, ‘I’m kind of like the back of house.’ Deans are the front of the house of the restaurant.
