INDIANAPOLIS — A person was critically injured in a shooting on the near north side of Indianapolis Saturday night.

According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, officers were called to the 3300 block of Central Avenue around 7:18 p.m. to investigate a shooting. When police arrived at the scene, they located a person with injuries consistent with gunshot wounds.

IMPD indicated that the shooting victim was transported from the scene to a local hospital. Police described the victim as being in "critical but stable condition."

Investigators detained a person of interest during their investigation of the shooting. Police reported that they are still working to determine exactly how, if at all, the person was involved in the shooting.
