Flights in and out of Chicago's O'Hare International Airport were delayed Saturday afternoon as thunderstorms moved through the area.

As of 6 p.m., flights arriving to O'Hare are delayed an average of 41 minutes due to thunderstorms, according to the Federal Aviation Administration. The delay is expected to continue until 9 p.m.

Flights out of the airport are also delayed by the storms. As of 5:30 p.m., the average delay for flights out of O'Hare was approximately 90 minutes.

The FAA says staffing is also contributing to the delays.

According to the National Weather Service, scattered thunderstorms are likely in the Chicago area through Saturday evening, with potential torrential downpours and gusty winds.
