Justin Carbonneau scored the Blues' only goal in their preseason debut on Saturday night during a 2-1 shootout loss to the Stars.

Sam Steel scored the game-deciding goal for Dallas in the first round of the shootout, as Dalibor Dvorsky, Carbonneau and Dylan Holloway all failed to score on their shootout attempts. Mavrik Bourque scored in regulation for the Stars.

Jordan Binnington played the first two periods and stopped 19 of the 20 shots he faced. Colten Ellis went 14 for 14 in the third period and overtime before Steel's shootout goal.

Carbonneau scored on the power play in the second period on a shot from the left wing that evaded both Aleksanteri Kaskimaki at the net-front and Stars goalie Remi Poirier.
