Mackinac Island — Rep. Lisa McClain, one of the top Republicans in the U.S. House and a representative from a suburban Detroit district, said if the National Guard were deployed to Detroit by President Donald Trump, she would prefer it to be "coordinated" with city officials.
Some Republicans, including U.S. Senate candidate Mike Rogers of White Lake Township, have recently floated the possibility of Trump sending troops to Detroit and other Democratic-led cities around the country to try to combat crime.
