AKRON, Iowa (KCAU) — As autumn is right around the corner and the leaves begin to change colors, Akron, Iowa, is hosting an event in honor of the season.

Held at the Akron city park. The 25th annual festival draws attendees of all ages for homemade food and baked goods, kids` games and activities, and dozens of craft vendors.

A new feature at this year's event was bingo, as well as a raffle. But the main draw of the festival was the scarecrow decorating contest with more than 20 prize categories and nearly $1,000 in cash prizes. Scarecrows were judged in 3 different age groups: youth, intermediate, and adult.
