Fire destroyed a barn north of Waterford late Saturday afternoon.
Norfolk County Fire responded at about 4:37 p.m. Saturday to a property on Concession 6 Townsend near Old Highway 24 after the homeowners saw some coming from their barn.
Fire crews from Waterford, Teeterville, Simcoe, Delhi, and Port Dover arrived to find a large outbuilding at the back of the property fully engulfed in flames.
Fire Prevention Officer Cory Armstrong said the fire was extinguished by 7:30 p.m. with no loss to nearby buildings.
“The barn was not used for livestock, but did contain several stored vehicles and machinery,” Armstrong noted. “The structure and all contents were a total loss.”
The fire is not considered suspicious, but due to the extensive damage cannot be investigated to determine a cause. Da
