LAKE PEND OREILLE, Idaho – A sunken houseboat was recently removed from Lake Pend Oreille by Idaho’s Department of Environmental Quality.
The 52-foot vessel sank 60 feet during spring storms. Dive teams and inflatable lift bags were used to bring the boat back to the surface.
Crews then pumped out the water-logged vessel, hauled it ashore and safely dismantled it.
This action is part of a state-wide effort to prevent the potential release of fuel or other hazardous materials from submerged boats.
