A driver 'ran across fields' after a crash on a Midland motorway left multiple lanes closed.

The collision took place on the M6 in Staffordshire today, said police.

It resulted in a full carriageway closure between Junction 15, Hanchurch Interchange, and Junction 16, Barthomley Interchange.

A driver involved in the collision ran across fields following the incident, police said on X (formerly Twitter).

A spokesperson said the suspect was "sadly lost" however there is "plenty of forensics to get him yet".
