A CTA bus struck a home in Chicago's Jefferson Park neighborhood after a hit-and-run crash set off a dramatic series of events, police said.
According to authorities, the crash happened just before 11 p.m. in the 5500 block of North Central Avenue.
There, a black sedan traveling eastbound on Catalpa allegedly failed to stop at a stop sign and struck the bus on the driver's side. The crash caused the bus driver to lose control of the vehicle, sending it into a parked car, then a fence and ultimately ending with the bus in the side of a residential building.
The bus was being driven by a 46-year-old woman, who suffered a laceration to the head, police said. She was taken to an area hospital in fair condition.
The driver of the sedan fled the scene before officers arrived, police said.
