PHOENIX — A memorial for Charlie Kirk at State Farm Stadium in Glendale will attract Republican leaders coming in from throughout the country to mourn the loss of the conservative activist.
More than 200,000 people are expected to attend the memorial service based on registrations to the Turning Point USA website, a Glendale police spokesperson told CNN. The stadium has a fixed capacity of about 63,000 people and Desert Diamond Arena is planned to serve as an overflow site.
Kirk, 31, was assassinated on a Utah college campus earlier this month and his body was transported back to Arizona where Kirk's family lived. Turning Point USA, which Kirk co-founded, has its headquarters based in Phoenix.
